eartha masonEartha Mae Mason, 79, died Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at her granddaughter’s home in Bailey, Colo.

She was born Aug. 10, 1941 to Paul Chandler and Elola (Chandler) Hughes in Swiftown, Miss.

She married Richard T. Mason Oct. 17, 1971 in Liberal. He preceded her in death Oct. 7, 2017.

She was known as a God-fearing woman and took pride in community involvement and spent her life advocating for equality of all people. She received the A.H. Smith Service award Feb. 21, 2015. 

She attended Christian Life Center and Church for All Nations. 

She worked at Panhandle Eastern, National Beef, Southwest Medical Center, Franco Auto Sales and most recently for Mr. Charles Marcellus.

Survivors include sons, Lawrence (Tracey) Martin and Jeffery Martin; stepdaughters, Pepper (Terry) Caldwell and Monique Mason-Kelly; sister, Susie Martin; seven grandchildren: Mandy (Tracy) Fenter, Voncell Reynoso, Alyssa Tatro, Mahogany Mason-Kelly, Turquoise Mason-Kelly, Jordan Martin, and Noah Lackey; seven great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.

She was also preceded in death by brothers, Leo Chandler and Paul Chandler; sister, Chrysanthemum Johnson; and stepdaughters, Tamara Mason and Rita Mason.

• Eartha had instructed for her body to be cremated.

The family will be celebrating Eartha’s life in a private memorial service at a later date.

In remembrance of Eartha, the family requests everyone to carry out acts of generosity and kindness by showing love to others.
