bob duranJOHNSON – Robert Daniel Duran, 81, died Saturday, March 27, 2021 in Lawrence. 

He was born Dec. 12, 1939 to Salvador Huerta and Melba Nadean (Stringer) Duran in Saunders.

He married Keren E. Lowman May 20, 1962 in Lebo. She survives. 

He taught school and coached multiple sports in Dodge City until 1970, when they moved to Tipton, Mo.  In 1972, the family moved to Johnson, where he joined his father in farming. 

He founded Chem-Till Spray Company, a crop spraying business, with Jesus Tarin in 1985, and retired in 2016. 

He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Johnson, the Knights of Columbus, and the Elks Lodge in Dodge City.   

Survivors also include sons, Bob Duran and partner, John Humbert, Roeland Park, and Phil Duran and wife, Krista, Leawood; daughter, Keri Veach and husband, Shae, Hays; brother, Richard Duran and wife, Linda, Horseshoe Bay, Texas; sisters, Anita Antony, Golden, Colo., and Rosemary Wilkerson and husband, Charlie, Johnson; sister-in-law, Jeanie Facklam and husband, Bert, Tescott; 11 grandchildren: Kayla Duran Latham, Brock Duran, Jared Duran, Devon Duran, Dani Duran, Dawson Duran, Dina Duran, Kelli Veach, Jodi Veach, Tucker Veach, and Mindi Veach; and 10 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Ron Antony.

• Vigil Service and Rosary will be at 6 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, with Reverend Peter Tran presiding. The service  may also be viewed live on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. 

Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson. 

Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, American Heart Association or St. Bernadette Catholic Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson, KS 67855.
