charlie clinesmithHUGOTON – Charles “Charlie” Clinesmith, 77, died Friday, Sept. 3, 2021, at his home in Hugoton. 

He was born Sept. 29, 1943 to Howard and Leone (Ipson) Clinesmith in Elkhart. 

He married Carolyn Bernard (and gained a daughter, Deb) May 24, 1968. She preceded him in death. 

He entered the United States Army in 1966 and served in Germany until his honorable discharge. 

He retired from Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. after many years and then enjoyed working for F&O Roustabouts and Hoskinson Sales & Service. 

He was a cowboy and enjoyed roping. 

Survivors include daughter, Deb Munkres, Hugoton; grandson, Jeremy Johnson and his children, Amya Johnson and Danielle Johnson; great-grandchildren, Cyla Collins and Steven Collins; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Ester Smith, Colorado Springs; brother, Raymond “Pete” Clinesmith, Ulysses; and many other relatives and friends.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Harold, Phyllis, Weldon, Norma, Jimmie, Bobby and Margaret.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church in Rolla with Pastor Wes Young presiding.

Burial and Military Graveside Rites by the Kansas Army National Guard Military Funeral Honor Guard and the American Legion 8th District Honor Guard following at Rolla Cemetery. 

Memorials are suggested to the Dust Bowl Riders in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S. Main, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.
