PLAINS – Dorothy Mae Hancock Angell, 99, died Sept. 28, 2021. 

She was born Oct. 22,1921 to Walter and Gladys (Mahaffey) Hancock in Jackson, Miss. 

She married Leland Angell Jan. 31, 1942. He preceded her in death.

She graduated from high school in Jackson, Miss. and went to Washington DC in 1941 to work for the Navy Department. 

After the war the couple attended several colleges and ministered at a variety of pastorates in Kansas, Texas, Missouri, Mississippi and Colorado. 

She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986 from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs.

She loved her family, writing poetry, painting and had a love for learning.

Survivors include sons, Leland Lynn Angell and wife, Linda, and Ed Angell and wife Shelly; son-in-law, Howard Tiffany; daughters, Marsha Hyman and husband, Ken, and Larinda Fuchs and husband, Richard; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. 

She was also preceded in death by daughter, Jeanne Faye Tiffany.

• Graveside services will take place Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021 in Plains, handled by Fidler-Orme Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
