bertha vela de ruedaBertha Vela de Rueda, 61, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2021 at her home in Liberal.

She was born March 25, 1960 to Francisco Vela Zuñiga and Teresa Cobarruvias Muñoz in Nicolas Romero, Durango, Mexico.

She married Manuel Rueda March 25, 1984 in Durango, Mexico. He survives.

She was very outgoing and spoke to anyone and everyone. She was such a happy person with a smile always on her face and always cracking jokes.

She was immensely strong and such a brave warrior, and her daughters felt beyond blessed to have had her. Three of the most important life lessons that will remain ingrained forever by her own example and her husband’s, are the values, life skills, and the true meaning of family.

She worked for almost 25 years at National Beef in Liberal.

Survivors include her mother; daughters, Noemi and husband, Alfonso Romo, Liberal, and Abeline Rueda, Liberal; three granddaughters: Magali Romo, Genesis Romo, and Melani Romo; five brothers: Ismael Vela, Francisco Vela, Javier Vela, Rutilio Vela, and Hector Vela; and sisters, Graciela Vela and Irene Vela.

She was preceded in death by her father; brother, Hector Vela; and aunt, Angela Cobarruvias.
