The Lady Redskins had a slow start against Dodge City, and it came back to haunt them in a 3-1 loss.

Dodge City jumped out early and took a lead in the first 10 minutes.

By halftime, the Lady Red demons had a 3-0 lead with a stiff wind in their face.

Even though the Lady Redskins had the wind in the first half, they couldn’t put together a serious offensive threat.

But after falling behind 3-0, the Lady Redskin defense tightened up and didn’t allow another goal the rest of the game.

But the Lady Red Demon defense continued to make scoring difficult for the Lady Redskins as well, and despite Ashley Carrillo charging from the edge, Liberal couldn’t find an opportunity until the final 25 minutes when a centering pass landed near Valeria Torres who took a high shot at the goal, and the Lady Red Demon goalkeeper watched as the ball sailed over her head and into the net to cut the lead to 3-1.

But the Lady Redskins couldn’t get another quality shot in the final 25 minutes.

Liberal finished the regular season at 6-9, 3-5 in the Western Athletic Conference.

Liberal finished as the 11th seed in the Class 6A Western division and will likely face sixth seed Derby (10-6) on the road in the first round of the playoffs.
