Thursday the seventh grade Lady Warriors A-team defeated Dodge City Comanche by a score of 52-9. Leading scorers were Maliyah Mullens with 12 points, Miah Janko had 11, Haiden Lyon scored 10, and Devaney Carter also scored 10. Maliyah Mullens also had eight rebounds.

The Lady Warrior seventh grade B team took on Dodge City Comanche. The Lady Warriors started the game slowly making a couple of free throws before Yuridia Gonzalez lit up the scoreboard. After one quarter the Warriors settled into a 15-0 lead. The Lady Warriors cruised the rest of the way with a 32-2 victory.  Zoe Still and Jenasis Morua contributed on both ends of the court getting some scores and combining with six steals. 

Scorers for the Lady Warriors were Yuridia Gonzalez with 16 points, Ashley Batista has six, Jesslyn Heredia added five, Valeria Gandero and Jensais Morua each had two and Zoe Still hit a free throw.   Heredia led the team with six rebounds while Batista recorded 13 steals. 

The eighth grade Lady Warriors B team played first at Dodge City and were out to a slow start only scoring two points the first half by Ashley Romero. In the second half the Lady Warriors started picking up the pace and only allowed Comanche to score two baskets the entire second half. The Lady Warriors never gave up and finished strong but fell short losing 16-7. Also scoring two points were Yuridia Rayas and Mora with her first two points of her basketball career, and Lorena Meza with one point from the free throw line. 

The A team faced an aggressive Comanche team. The Lady Warriors were right with them and at the half, the score was tied 9-9. “In the third quarter Comanche outworked us and took the lead,” Lady Warrior coach Nancy Hines said. 

Madysen Hammond answered back trying to rally swishing a three-pointer tying the score 14-14. 

“We just couldn’t answer anymore and couldn’t get it done losing 18-14,” Hines said. 

Leading in scoring was Hammond with eight points, Trinity Olvera scored three, Rebecca Davis with had two, and Shiaa Dunlap added one.
