The Saints and Lady Saints traveled to El Dorado Saturday to face Butler, and both teams fell short.
The Lady Saints lost 69-63. Seward jumped out to an early 17-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Grizzlies shut Seward down in the second quarter and took a 29-25 lead at half.
The Lady Grizzlies continued to outpace the Lady Saints in the third quarter to take a 52-41 lead, and the Lady Saints cut the lead in the final quarter but could not overcome the Butler advantage. The Lady Saints continued to rely on the three-point shot and only made six of 31 attempts.
The Saints also fell to the Grizzlies, 68-50.
Seward fell behind early and never recovered, trailing 38-19 at half. The two teams played even in the second half, but the damage was already done.
Seward shot 31 percent while the No. 18 Grizzlies shot 51 percent.
Seward hosts Colby Wednesday.
