After leading 21-6 in the first quarter, the Lady Saints found themselves trailing 46-38 with six minutes to play in the fourth quarter in the first round of the Region 6 playoffs in the Greenhouse Saturday.

The Lady Saints battled back with an 8-0 run to force overtime, and the lady Saints took a 54-51 lead after a three pointer by Halima Salat. Salat also gave the Lady Saints a 59-57 lead with 23 seconds to play.

But Garden City tied the game with a Taya Davis basket, and with 10 seconds to play, Davis was fouled and made a free throw for a 60-59 lead.

The Lady Saints had three shots in the final 10 seconds including two at the rim in a scrum, but the ball never made it in the basket, and no foul was called. Garden City escaped the Greenhouse with a 60-59 upset win.

Salat led Seward with 22 points.

The Lady Saints finished with the first losing season in 30 years with a 14-17 overall record and ended the season on a five-game losing streak.
