The Liberal swim team’s season reached the Western Athletic Conference Championship meet in Great Bend for the final meet of the season.

“Everyone from all five schools brought their best to this meet by setting new personal records,” Liberal coach Ismael Carrillo said.

In the end, the Liberal swim team finished third overall with a point total of 336, a new record for the team.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better group of men,” Carrillo said. “They stepped up to the challenge and push themselves through the pain.”

Carrillo also said the team received much-needed support.

“I would like to thank also the parents of all these boys,” he said. “They supported us at meets and setting up meals for these men. And of course a shout out to all those at LHS that supported the swim program through moral support and appreciation.”
