GUYMON, Okla. — Liberal and Guymon added another instant classic to the recent rivalry on Highway 54, and the Tigers avenged an earlier loss to the Redskins by knocking down five free throws late for a 44-42 win.

The loss overshadowed a stellar performance by Braxton Hyde who scored 16 points including four three pointers.

Hyde kept the Redskins close in the first half connecting on three long-range shots, and after trailing 8-3 early, the Redskins rallied to take a 22-20 lead at half.

But the Redskins could never pull away from the Tigers in the second half, and the largest Liberal lead was 31-27 late in the third quarter.

Guymon tied the game at 31-31, but Hyde gave the Redskins a two-point lead with a shot in the lane, and the Redskins started the fourth quarter with a two-point lead.

Guymon took a 37-36 lead with 5:08 to play, but Hunter Hatcher made another basket to give the Redskins a 38-37 lead.

The two teams traded leads on the next two possessions, and with Liberal leading by one, a Tiger was fouled on a three-point attempt, and he made all three to give Guymon a 42-40 lead.

AJ Ramirez tied the game with 1:27 to play, but another Redskins foul led to two more Guymon free throws.

The Tiger made both, and despite having four possessions in the final minute, Liberal could not tie the game in a 44-42 loss.

The Redskins (7-9) will host Hays for Senior Recognition Friday in The Big House.
