After a four-day break, the Liberal Bee Jays traveled to Oklahoma City to face Team Charlotte and Team Elite in a split double header. Liberal came away with two seven-inning game wins to move to 9-1 on the season.

Caeden Trenkle put the Bee Jays in position for an early lead with a triple to start the game, and the Bee Jays took an early 3-0 lead against Team Charlotte.

But the Bee Jays faltered on defense, and three errors in the first two innings allowed Team Charlotte to tie the game 3-3.

But the Bee Jays added two runs in the fourth inning with a lead-off double from Wyatt Grant followed by a double from Aidan Shepardson.

The Bee Jay pitching staff didn’t allow another run in the final five innings despite two more defensive errors by the Bee Jays.

Cole Evans pitched a scoreless inning followed by three shutout innings from Cory Didier.

Bee Jay closer Payton Strambler took the mound in the seventh and  shut down Team Charlotte for the sae and the 5-3 win.

Liberal crushed Team Elite in the second game of the day, 19-1.

Liberal had big inning after big inning in the win Jake Schulz and Trenkle each had four hits and home runs in the win.

Schulz racked up six RBIs, and the Bee Jays scored six runs in the second inning followed by five more in the third and five more in the fourth.

The Bee Jays (9-1) will play two more games in Oklahoma City today against the Lake Hefner Pelicans and the Norman River Rats.

The Bee Jays will get the weekend off before hosting the Denver Cougars at 7 p.m. Monday at Brent Gould Field to start a 10-game homestand.
