Liberal won two of the last three games against the Great Bend Bat Cats, and in the one loss, the Bee Jays still had more hits.

The Bee Jays played a double header against the Bat Cats in Great Bend Tuesday and came away with a split.

The Bee Jays belted out 15 hits in the opener and cruised to an 11-5 win.

The Bee Jays trailed 3-2 after the third inning but took a 4-3 lead after the fourth.

The Bee Jays and Bat Cats each scored a run in the fifth, but the Bee Jays blew the game open in the sixth with six runs, and Great Bend only responded with a run in the bottom half, and the Bee Jays had an 11-5 lead.

Neither team scored in the seventh, and Liberal won.

Nate White and Jake Schulz led the Bee Jays with three hits each and both scored twice.

Jake Malone led the Bee Jays with three RBIs, and Wilson Erhardt had two.

Aaron Funk pitched the first three innings and allowed three runs, only one of them earned, on two hits and a walk while striking out four.

Cory Didier pitched three innings and allowed two runs on three hits and a walk.

Calvin Hunt finished the night by pitching the seventh and allowing one hit and also struck out one.

In the nightcap, the Bee Jays outhit the Bat Cats 9-8 but lost 5-2.

Liberal had a 1-0 lead after the third inning, but Hayden Arnold struggled in the sixth and allowed  three runs before being relieved. Great Bend added another run before the inning was over to take a 4-1 lead.

Great Bend extended the lead with a run in the eighth, and the Bee Jays only managed a single run in the ninth in the 5-2 loss.

Cayde Ward was a perfect four-for-four form the plate, but the Bee Jays could not get key hits with runners in scoring position in the loss.

The Bee Jays were also walked seven times while the Bee Jays only allowed one walk to the Bat Cats.

Arnold pitched five-and-a-third innings and allowed three runs on four hits while striking out 10.

Eric Heiman pitched an inning and two-thirds and allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out two.

Payton Strambler tossed the ninth inning and allowed one run on two hits while striking out three.

Liberal returned to Brent Gould Field Wednesday and run rules Great Bend 14-3 in the seventh inning.

Great Bend took a 2-0 lead after the first inning, but the Bee Jays responded with four runs in the second, seven runs in the third and two runs in the fourth to take a 13-2 lead.

Each team scored a run in the sixth, and the Bee Jays came away with the 14-3 win.

AJ Folds, Nate White and Cody Bigford each had a strong night at the plate with three hits each. White and Bigford each had three RBIs, and Caeden Trenkle also had three RBIs. Ward and Bryce Donovan each had two hits.

Dylan Johnson had a solid start, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five.

Garrett Bonnett pitched the sixth and allowed one run and two walks while striking out one.

Strambler finished the game with a scoreless seventh, walking one and striking out two.

The Bee Jays will finish the regular season at 7 p.m. against the Bat Cats and will face the Houston Express at 8:30 p.m. Monday in Hutchinson.
