The Lady Redskins faltered in the middle of a five-set dual with Pampa Tuesday in The Big House, but  strong finish allowed Liberal to overcome a 2-1 set deficit to take the match 3-2 and move to 4-5 on the season.

The first set remained close until the Lady Redskins pulled away and took an eight-point lead.

Pampa trimmed the lead late, but the Lady Redskins claimed a 25-19 win.

Liberal struggled in the second set and never found a rhythm. Pampa took advantage of strong net play and built a lead, and the Lady Redskins couldn’t regain momentum. Pampa tied the match with a 25-19 win.

Pampa took a 5-0 lead before the two teams battled back and forth in Set 3. Pampa built a six-point lead, and the Lady Redskins rallied twice but could not overcome the deficit. Late miscues led to a 25-23 loss, and Pampa has a 2-1 lead.

Aubrey Warden and Horyna combined for 15 kills each, and Emma Evans had 10.

Logan Dodge had 44 assists in the win.

Warden also had seven aces, and Horyna had four.

“We talked about finishing since last week, and I am so proud of them for fighting when they were down and not giving up,” Liberal coach Meghan Besecker said. “We finished well, and this was a great all-around team win.”
