“Throughout the day, it was truly a team effort,” Lady Warrior coach James Babinec said. “Everyone at some point made an incredible play to keep rallys alive. Jenavee Zuniga consistently dove, hit, and saved returns to advance the score. Marely Mendoza played strong at the net with an impressive block in particular against a Great Bend attack. Aleczis Green, Miley Janko and NaZaih Williams all served strong scoring multiple aces throughout the day.”

The Lady Warriors improved fromt he seventh seed to take third.

“We started the tournament out with a mindset of ‘punching the ticket’ to advance,” Babinec said. “The ladies responded well and played their best volleyball this season when it counted most. Overall, I’m very proud of how they finished. Obviously we wanted to be playing in the finals, but give Hays credit, they played efficiently to capitalize on finishing plays.”
