GARDEN CITY — The Lady Redskins have come close against the Garden City Lady Buffaloes three times this season but have yet to get a win.

Liberal took the Lady Buffaloes to three sets Set. 3 and came up short in the final set 27-25.

In their second match Sept. 29, the Lady Redskins dropped two sets including another overtime set, 28-26.

Tuesday, the Lady Redskins again played the Lady Buffaloes in a tight match but came up short 3-1.

The Lady Redskins fell behind in the first set but battled back by scoring six straight points to cut Garden City’s lead to 24-22 before the Lady Buffaloes were finally able to put the set away 25-22.

The Lady Redskins started off strong in the second set and took a 17-10 lead. The Lady Redskins were able to maintain the advantage to win the second set 25-18.

L&T photo/Earl WattBut Garden City responded with a quick start to the third set and was able to keep the Lady Redskins out of their system. The Lady Buffaloes took a 2-1 set lead with a 25-17 win.

The Lady Redskins battled back and forth with the Lady Buffaloes throughout the fourth set, and both teams struggled with serves, preventing either side from establishing momentum.

But the Lady Buffaloes were able to get a four-point lead late in the set, and the Lady Redskins missed a chance to tie the set at 23-23. Garden City took the 24-22 advantage and scored the final point to take the set 25-22 and the match, 3-1.

Aubrey Warden led the Lady Redskins with 21 kills. Bree Horyna had 12.

Logan Dodge continued her quest to become the single season assist leader with 41 assists.

Lizzy Cisneros had 34 digs, Warden had 21 and Jenna Ormiston had 12.

Ormiston also had three aces, and Rylie Hallman had three as well.

Liberal travels to Great Bend for the WAC tournament Saturday.
