Leader & Times

With snow piled along the sidelines of Redskin Field and temperatures hovering just above freezing and a steady rain pouring down, the Redskins were able to overcome the elements and the Garden City Buffaloes for a 3-1 first round playoff win.

Angel Muñoz was the first to score about 10 minutes into the first half with a high shot in the goal, but Garden City tied the game five minutes later.

With time running out in the first half, Yahir Salazar sent a pass in front of the net to Alfredo Lopez who sent a line drive along the turf into the corner of the net for a 2-1 Liberal lead.

The Redskins dominated the second half but couldn’t find the back of the net. Several shots went just wide of the net, but Salazar finally found the goal in the final two minutes to secure the win, 3-1.

The Redskins will face the winner of today’s Dodge City match with Hutchinson.
