The Lady Saints continue to prove they can compete with anyone in the Jayhawk Conference, but they also showed they can lose to anyone, also.

The Lady Saints are 7-5 in conference play and have split five double headers including Thursday’s twinbill tie in Dodge City.

Seward dominated the opener with a 10-1 run-rule win in five innings.

The Lady Saints took advantage of five Lady Conquistador errors including one in the second inning on a fly ball from Macy Cesa-Spearman that was dropped, and two runs scored.

Dodge City scored a run in the bottom of the second thanks to an error by the Lady Saints, and neither team scored again until the fifth inning when the Lady Saints put the game away.

Jacie Scott started the scoring on a sacrifice groundout before AJ Lune hit a single to score Jaci Oakley.

Emily Mojica scored an a Dodge City error, and Luna scored on an RBI single from Melissa Crisanti.

The Lady Saints scored eight runs in the fifth for a 10-1 lead, and Alyssah Pontoja put the game away with a shutout fifth inning in the circle.

Scott went 2 for 4 with three RBIs to lead the Lady Saints.

Ireland Caro pitch the second game for the Lady Saints, and despite a solid performance of only allowing two runs on four hits, the Lady Saint offense struggled against Dodge City’s Makayla Kolojay. Seward only had two hits and struck out 10 times in a 2-1 loss.

The Lady Saints (8-10, 7-5) return home to host Northwest Kansas Tech (2-24, 1-7) at 2 p.m. Thursday.
