After a   stunning loss to Hays 3-2 at Redskin Field a week ago, the Lady Redskins responded with a 4-0 win over Guymon Tuesday.

Liberal (4-4, 2-2 WAC) had to battle a stiff breeze in the first half, and Liberal still kept the ball near the Guymon goal for a majority of the first half.

A Lady Tiger was called for a hand ball in the box with 29 minutes to play in the first half, and Ashley Carrillo took the penalty kick and scored to give the Lady Redskins a 1-0 lead.

Two minutes later, Carrillo received a pass from Arely Molina and pushed the ball by the Guymon goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead.

The Lady Redskins maintained the 2-0 lead by half, and they only needed a minute-and-a-half of the second half before Carrillo completed the hat trick with her third goal of the game off a pass from Lesslie Galindo, and the Lady Redskins had a 3-0 lead.

With 33 minutes remaining in the game, Stefany Ortuño received the ball in the middle of the box from Molina, , and Ortuño lofted the ball toward the goal and found the net for Liberal’s fourth goal.

The Lady Redskins continued to play solid defense against the Lady Tigers, and Liberal finished the game with a 4-0 win.

Liberal outshot Guymon 14-2, and the Lady Redskins had a 5-4 advantage on corner kicks.

Liberal returns to Western Athletic Conference play Thursday when the Lady Redskins host Great Bend (0-6).

Liberal will then get a week to prepare for a rematch with Hays (5-2). The Lady Redskins will travel to Hays to face the Lady Indians April 22.
