CHEROKEE, Okla.—Beaver County schools brought home three individual titles and the Turpin girl track team was named Academic State Champions at the Class A State Track Meet, Saturday in Cherokee. Zoee Weaver of Beaver brought home the gold in dramatic fashion with a come-from-behind win in the 800 meters and medaled in two other events. Beaver’s Clay Pugh set a new school record in winning the boy’s discus with a throw of 158 feet. Turpin’s Brianna Behrendt became state champion in the girl’s discus with a toss of 133-01.

Boise City kept the girls team crown in the panhandle for the 8th straight year, winning their third straight title. It would most likely have been a fourth straight if not for the cancelation of the 2020 State Track meet due to the pandemic. A new state record was set in the boy’s pole vault by Caden Laverty of Shattuck with vault of 15-04.

All athletes who finished first through sixth place medaled, team points were scored through 8th place. Here is a list of all athletes who competed at State.
