The Blues took four teams to Wichita to play in USSSA Hawaiian Hitfest this past weekend. 

“Every team showed improvement as they competed in first summer tournament of the year,” Liberal coach Tommy McClure said. 

The 18U went 7-0 to win the high school bracket in the championship Sunday. Both Jenna Ormiston and Zoey Torres were strong on the mound in four games. Tori Ford from Scott City hit a go-ahead home run in championship game. 

The 16U Team No. 2 was 0-4 in tournament, but played well and had put pressure on several teams as they took early leads in all but one game.

The team was led on the mound by Abbi Boese of in two games and also sparking offense with her bat. Terah Head provided the team with a few big hits, and Jazmin King was solid on defense. 

The 16U Team No. 3 went 1-3 with Sublette’s first team all-league player Haven Jaso on the mound. Maddy McCarter  picked up the win for the team. Miley Janko hit her first home run on the season and Maedeen McClure generated offense on the bases.

The 14U squad got a big win in bracket play to upset a higher seed.  The 14s were led on the mound with Bri Oliver, Satanta, and  Davani Manzano, Ulysses. Crissa Irvin, Scott City, played solid. Rocio Baeza, Ulysses, was solid with her bat.
