It may have taken the Lady Redskins five years to defeat the Garden City Lady Buffaloes when they pulled off the feat Sept. 28, but it only took 15 days to do it again.

The Lady Redskins hosted Garden City in The Big House Tuesday and swept the Lady Buffaloes in three sets to move Liberal to a winning record of 15-14 after an 0-10 start to the season.

Liberal and Garden City battle back and forth in the first set before the Lady Redskins were able to take a four-point lead 20-16.

Liberal pushed the lead to 24-19 before the Lady Buffaloes took a time out, and Garden City scored four straight points to cut Liberal’s lead to 24-23.

But the Lady Redskins were able to find the floor to secure the set, 25-23.

The Lady Redskins followed that with a win in Set 2, 25-19, and in the third set Liberal was able to complete the sweep with a 25-21 win.

The Lady Redskins have put together an 7-2 record against Western Athletic Conference opponents, and their two losses came early in the season against Garden City and Great Bend.

Liberal has avenged the Garden City loss twice but has yet to face Great Bend since dropping a heartbreaker to the Lady Panthers (24-26, 25-20, 25-22).

Great Bend (16-12) and Liberal will face each other Saturday along with Garden City, Dodge City and Hays at the WAC tournament in Hays, and the round-robin winner will be crowned the WAC champion.
