Roberto Cantu Perez, 66, died Thursday April 25, 2024 at the BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.  

He was born June 6, 1957 to Ruben Cantu Castillo and Eufemia Perez Peña.

He married Minerva "Minnie" Hernandez Muñoz Jan. 28, 1976. She survives.

He worked as a truck driver for 24 years until his retirement in 2022.  His coworkers would call him "Maestro" as he was always guiding and teaching.

He enjoyed watching western movies, singing & dancing, working on his cars, attending Texas Rodeos and was a big fan of Lane Frost.

He was known for being an ornery prankster, always making his friends and family laugh.

Survivors also include four daughters: Liza Cantu, Angie Mason and husband, Trevor, Cynthia Cantu and wife, Sarah, and Sarah Cantu; son, Roberto Cantu, Jr.; three granddaughters: Nevaeh Dinora Cantu and fiancé, Keith, Naheesha Brielle Cantu, and Charlotte Brie'lee Cantu.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Dinora Cantu; his in-laws; and his grandchildren sent to Heaven too soon.

• Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the Miller Mortuary Chapel in Liberal.

Per Roberto's wishes, cremation will take place.

A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
