Two drivers and three passengers are dead as the result of a fatality accident Monday morning in Beaver County, Okla.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported around 4:30 a.m. Monday, a 2008 Ford F150 pickup was southbound on U.S. Highway 83 just less than a mile north of the Texas state line or about seven and a half miles north of Perryton, Texas.

At the same time, OHP reported a 2011 Toyota Camry was northbound on Hwy. 83, and for an unknown reason, the pickup went left of center, entering the northbound lane of the roadway. The F150, OHP said, struck the Camry head on, and all occupants of the Toyota were pinned.

The pickup’s driver, 42-year-old Brett Edwards Philen of Murchison, Texas, was transported by ambulance to Ochiltree General Hospital in Perryton, where he was pronounced dead by hospital personnel.

The Camry’s driver, Clemente Velez, 53, of Perryton, as well as three passengers, Esther Espino Puentes, Griselda Lomas De Velez and Maria Ernesti Velez Mendoza, all of Perryton, were pronounced dead at the scene and transported by Clark Funeral Services to their facility in Beaver, Okla. OHP did not release the ages of the passengers.

Seat belts were in use by all but the back seat passengers in the Camry.
