The Seymour Rogers Apaches opened their season on the road to face Dodge City Comanche.
The seventh grade opened the evening when Jonathan Morales broke loose on the outside edge to find the end zone.
Carl Dean and Jonathan Morales were able to find the end zone a total of seven times in the outing with the help of the whole seventh grade line to lead the way.
Defense was able to hold Comanche with the help of Beau Koerner forcing a fumble. Johnny Sosa contributed by recovering a fumble to put the ball back in the Apaches’ hands. The seventh grade Apaches won with a final score of 48-30.
The eighth grade took the field with the opening return. Less than a minute into the game, Kaden Olvera turned the edge to put points on the board.
Offensively the Apaches were able to reach the end zone eight times with Olvera, Aiden Aragon and Brandon Maldonado.
Ayden Gutierrez led the Apaches defense to a scoreless game the entire first half where Seferino Guzman earned a safety. There were multiple tackles for loss by numerous Apaches.
The Apaches were able to outrun Comanche for the opening road win with a final score of 61-14.
