The Liberal Redskins moved to 3-0 and 1-0 in the Western Athletic Conference with a 7-0 win at home against Great Bend.
Playing their third game in four days and first one at home, it took the boys soccer team a few minutes to find their legs.
Great Bend came out and was determined to try to make the game physical and the Redskins showed they could play that style as well.
Scoring started in the 28th minute as Josh Garcia found Gio Berrera to get the scoring going.
Diego Pavia then got his first of three goals with an assist from Alexis Landa.
Liberal kept the attack on and was able to keep the ball on Great Bend’s side of the field and got many good looks at goal.
It was only a matter of time for Johnny Young to join in on the scoring as he had been aggressive all half and was able to knock in a goal off a save by Great Bend keeper.
Gio Berrera found Diego Pavia for his second goal of the half and Liberal took a 4-0 lead into half.
To begin the scoring in the second half Josh Garcia was able to find Issac Erives on a quick restart after a Great Bend foul and was able to catch them off guard. At the 10 minute mark of the second half Ariel Gaytan got a goal off of a nice pass from Issac Erives. To cap off his scoring, Pavia got his third goal on a loose ball in front of the net after a few shots were taken at the 21:35 mark of the second half.
The weather blew in and the game was called due to lightning.
The Redskins will travel back to Wichita Saturday to play Wichita Heights in the championship gameof the Titan Classic at 1 p.m.
