A stifling Hays defense coupled with a deadly outside shot left the Lady Redskins short in a 65-42 loss on Senior Night Friday in The Big House.

The loss dropped the Lady Redskins to the third seed in the Class 6A West standings.

Hays connected on four three pointers in the first quarter to help build a 19-12 lead and then hit another four threes in the second quarter while the Lady Redskins managed one from long range by Kylie Rhine. The Lady Redskins trailed 38-25 at halftime, with 24 of the 38 points for Hays coming from beyond the three point line.

The Lady Indians continued to drain outshots in the second half, hitting two more in the third quarter and four more in the fourth, and the Lady Redskins struggled to connect on shots in an attempt to rally.

Shamari Lewis had 16 points, and Rhine had nine in the loss.
