Johnny Layne Norton, 67, died Monday, April 20, 2026 at his home in Liberal.

He was born April 28, 1958 to Lenard and Daisy (Mills) Norton.

He attended high school in Moscow and graduated in 1977.

He worked at National Beef as a supervisor for many years and later drove trucks for various companies.

He enjoyed bowling, coyote hunting, riding motorcycles and riding horses.

He was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn football teams, and he also enjoyed watching WWE wrestling.

Survivors include three daughters: Crystal Cochran and spouse, Mickey, Amanda Norton, and Shendall Montgomery; son, Travis Norton; three sisters: Lynne Fink and husband, Mike, Vicki Gaskill and husband, Glen, and Linda Shaddix and husband, Johnny; brother, Larry Norton; grandchildren, Madilynn Norton and Macey Cochran; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

• There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2026 at the Moscow Cemetery in Moscow, with Mike Owens presiding.

Memorials are suggested to the Pheasant Haven of Hugoton.
