For three innings, the Lady Redskins battled the Western Athletic Conference champions in a  competitive game at the National Beef Family Sports Complex. But strong Hays hitting and struggles in the field let the competitive game turn into a rout in the fourth inning with 12 runs scored by the Lady Indians, and the Lady Redskins fell 15-1.

Liberal allowed one run in the first inning but answered when Madalyn McCarter hit a double and later scored for a 1-1 tie.

Hays was able to push a pair of runs across the plate in the second to take a 3-1 lead, but Zoey Torres and the Lady Red defense kept the lead at two with a scoreless third inning.

But Hays found the gaps in the fourth, and the Lady Redskins committed a pair of errors that extended the inning, and Hays pushed 12 runs across the plate tot ake a 15-1 lead.

The Lady Redskins couldn’t answer at the plate and lost 15-1.

The Lady Redskins (5-15) will travel to Dodge City today to face the Lady Red Demons 2-19). Liberal hosts Dodge City Thursday.
