The Lady Redskins traveled to Hays Tuesday to face the Western Athletic Conference leading Hays Lady Indians and lost both games.

The Lady Redskins struggled at the plate against Hays in Game 1 and only managed one hit — a single by MacKenna Alexander — to avoid a three-inning no hitter in a 15-0 loss.

Hays scored seven runs in the first inning, two in the second and six in the third to earn the 15-0 run-rule win.

Zoey Torres and Marypher Lopez each had walks in the loss.

The Lady Redskins had a better outing in Game 2 but still fell 13-3.

After a scoreless first inning, the Lady Redskins took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, but Hays responded with five runs in the bottom of the second to take a 5-1 lead.

Hays added four more runs in the third and four more in the fourth to take a 13-1 lead.

The Lady Redskins pushed to avoid the run rule in the fifth and scored two runs, but they needed three to continue the game and fell short, 13-3.

Madalyn McCarter, Miley Janko, Torres, Alexander and Lopez each had a hit in the loss.

Despite losing 13-3, the Lady Redskins were only outhit 6-5. Both team committed two errors apiece.

The losses dropped Liberal to 5-14 overall and 0-7 in the WAC.

Liberal hosts Hays for a single game today and will travel to Dodge City Tuesday for a single game.

The Lady Redskins will return home for a double header with Dodge City Thursday, May 9 before ending the regular season at home against Garden City Friday, May 10.
