Jesus Antonio Mendez Dominguez, 66, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at his home in Liberal.

He was born Aug. 8, 1959 to Santiago and Emma (Dominguez) Mendez.

His family was one of the greatest joys of life.

He enjoyed gardening, spending time around animals, enjoying the ocean, and sharing a good seafood meal.

He was always the life of the party, bringing people together with his energy, dancing, laughter, and unforgettable personality. He enjoyed mariachi music, especially the music of Vicente Fernández.

Survivors include his wife, Irma Mendez, Liberal; son, Junior Mendez and his wife Sarahy Mendez, Tulsa, Okla.; daughters, Arlette Austin and husband, Seth Austin, Liberal, and Kenia Mendez, Liberal; seven grandchildren: Brayden Austin, Gabriella Austin, Jimena Leyva, Emma Leyva, Thiago Mendez, Mayanah Mendez, Valentin Mendez; and seven siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three siblings.

• Visitation and Rosary will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, 2026 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at 1510 N. Calhoun Ave. in Liberal.

A family Celebration of Life and burial will take place at a later date.
