ULYSSES – Betty Jeane Anderson, 100, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2026 at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit in Johnson. 

She was born Oct. 4, 1925 to Ralph Ginter and Mabel (Hague) Long.

She graduated from Johnson High School with the Class of 1943.

She married A.C. Anderson April 8, 1944. He preceded her in death in 2017. 

She served as the bookkeeper for the family farm, drove trucks during harvest, tractors and helped with the irrigation.

She earned her Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and drove a school bus for the Big Bow School District.

She was an active 4-H leader, served on the Extension Council Board, and, alongside Vila Ruth, helped establish the Big Bow 4-H program.

She was also a member of the Johnson Order of the Eastern Star, where she served in 1965 as Worthy Matron.

Survivors include her daughters, Vicky Ellis and husband, Doc, and Gayla Gaines and husband, Bill; Lenoard Willson and Julia Traster-Rowe; brothers, Claude Long and Keith Long and wife, Kathy; three grandchildren: Darrel (Kyra) Ellis, Annette Ellis, and Trevor (Pam) Gum; eight great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Marsha Anderson; and sisters, Katherine Julian and Darlene Cate.

• Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026 at the Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Johnson, with Jonathan Emerson presiding.

A private family burial will take place at the Stanton County Cemetery.
