Ignacio Rivas Alvarado, 84, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2024 at the BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
He was born Feb. 8, 1940 to Eduardo Rivas Martinez and Maria De La Luz Alvardo.
He married Jesusita Quiñones Nov. 29, 1969. She survives.
He worked in many jobs over his lifetime, most recently as a processor for National Beef for eight years before retiring.
After retiring, he liked to plant vegetables in his backyard and spending time with his grandchildren – he was always aware of all his children as well as his grandchildren, calling to see how and where they were.
He loved reading, watching black and white films, and eating Chinese food.
He was a very hard-working man, starting at a very young age to help his father. After retiring for a few years in the summer he dedicated himself to selling popsicles, he said that it helped him keep his legs working, and even when he couldn't anymore he looked for a way to fight back.
