ULYSSES – Naomi Ellen Appling, 46, died Sept. 25, 2024.

She was born March 23, 1978.

She married Scott Appling Aug. 12, 2016. He survives.

She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, and wife and had steadfast faith in Jesus Christ, which became stronger with each day.

She fought her chronic medical problems heroically despite a medical system by which she was so often misunderstood.

Prior to moving to Ulysses, she worked as a laboratory assistant and phlebotomist in both large and small hospitals, always expecting more from herself than from anyone else.

Survivors include her mother, Paula Keener, La Cross; sons, Ethan Glenn, Layton, Utah, and Jason Glenn, La Crosse; siblings: David Riddle and wife, Deidra, Lochbuie, Colo., Laura Riddle, La Crosse, and Jeremy Bilson, Lyons; stepfather, Cliff Riddle, Otis; 13 nieces and nephew; sister-in-law, Libby Bliss; stepdaughter, Claire Appling; stepson, Ian Appling; and mother-in-law, Sandy Rector.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clayton Bilson.

• A Celebration of Life service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024 at the Rose Garden at 2350 E. 8th Street in Hays.
