Cheri Lee Shelton, 62, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024 at the University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City.
She was born July 18, 1962 to Delbert Wayne and Florence Ann (Shephard) Dodson.
She married Kenneth “Gene” Shelton Jr. July 26, 1990. He survives.
She waitressed at Golden Corral, worked at the Homeland and Ideal grocery stores in the meat department as a meat wrapper, delivered newspapers, and worked/managed convenience stores.
She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, painting, playing volleyball and basketball, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (Nannie) and friend.
She also loved animals and wished she would have went to school to become a veterinarian. She had quite a few dogs and cats in her lifetime. She absolutely loved her dogs – her current dog, Kinzi, and former dogs Sadie, Shelby, Molly, and Bosco.
Survivors also include her mother; daughters, Brittany Shelton, Liberal, and Carley Shelton and fiancé Dalton Smith, Tyrone, Okla.; grandchildren, Jolynn and Daxton Smith, Tyrone, Okla.; stepdaughters: Shandi Ross and husband Scott Ross of Meade; two grandchildren, Layne Ross and Skyle Ross of Meade; Christina Rosendahl and Kyle Harold of Colby; three grandchildren: Zachary Hailey, MaKenzie Hailey, and Teghan Rosendahl.
She was preceded in death by her father; and many other family members.
• Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade.
In accordance to her request, cremation has taken place.
Burial will follow the service at Graceland Cemetery in Meade.
