HUGOTON – Grace Olive Wheeler, 89, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025 at The Moore at Park Central in Amarillo, Texas.
She was born July 28, 1935 to Oscar John Nuffer and Sophia Anna Gurtler Nuffer.
She graduated from Emporia High School and continued her education at Friends Bible College, now known as Barclay College, Friends University and Liberal Cosmetology School.
She married Lewis Wheeler April 4, 1958. He survives.
The couple ultimately settled down in Hugoton, where she was an active member of Bethel Friends Church. Later in life, she attended Fellowship Baptist Church in Liberal.
Survivors also include daughters, Dana Ratliff and husband, Aaron, and Lisa Mason and husband, Eric; brother, Harold Nuffer; four grandchildren: Laci McCreary and husband, Josh, Sharaya Mauck and husband, Kyle, Lance Ratliff and wife, Sarah, and Paige Garrison and husband, Patric; and eight great-grandchildren: Chloe, Blakely, Caill, Remi, Wesley, Kenzie, Case and Colt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Frazier; and brother, Warren Nuffer.
• Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, 2025 at the Sovereign Redeemer Church in Hugoton, with burial to follow and Pastor Eric Mason presiding.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025 at Garnand Funeral Home at 920 E. 11th Street in Hugoton.
