Mary Ann Bush, 87, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025.
She was born Feb. 12, 1938 to Lee and Anna Windsor.
She married John “Jack” Paul Bush Aug. 15, 1958. He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Turpin High School in 1956, where she was active as a majorette, a basketball player, and loved history and home economics.
She attended Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, and she earned an associate’s degree in Christian education and music.
She devoted her life to ministry alongside her husband, serving congregations in Kansas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio, and Virginia. Whether leading children’s choirs, teaching Sunday School, playing the organ, or singing, she lived out her faith. She and Jack were instrumental in launching the annual Church of God Live Nativity in Elkhart, a tradition that continued for many years.
She attended the Elkhart Church of God, where she and her husband ministered early in their ministry. Her unwavering faith was evident in her commitment to ensuring her tithe reached the church each month, even in her final days.
Survivors include her children: John Michael Bush (Julie), Phillip Paul Bush (Robin), Nancy Jo Morrison (Kent), and Susan Joyce O’Brien (Tony); seven grandchildren: Whitney (Jarrod) Rudesill, Lee (Amanda) Bush, Lauran (Dustin) Whitmore, Jorie (Blake) Fulton, Kate (Ethan) Taulbee, Jill (Andrew) Dages, and Makenzie (Brad) Shelton; 12 great-grandchildren: Ryan, Rosalind, and Rhett Rudesill, Grayson and Harrison Ginter, Raelyn and Brighton Bush, Dax Fulton, Hayes and an expected brother Taulbee, Anderson Dages, and Theo Shelton.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; seven siblings: Lowell, Sam, Les, Carl, and Dora Windsor, Ruby Harrington, and Joyce Thrasher; her in-laws, George and Marian Bush; and brothers-in-law: George Bush, Hubert Harrington, and Raymond Lee Thrasher.
• A celebration of life took place Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2025 at The First Church of God in Elkhart.
A private family burial will take place following the service.
