HUGOTON – Larry Creamer, 79, died Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Legacy at Town Square Assisted Living Facility in Amarillo, Texas.
He was born Jan. 10, 1946 to Melvin and Pauline Creamer.
He married Bonnie Head. She survives.
He graduated from Hugoton High School in 1964 and attended college for a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Army, where he served in Korea for two years. He then moved to Wichita, where he studied computer programming for a year.
He worked at the Hugoton Security Elevator before beginning his 20-year career with Northern Natural Gas/Enron. He then contracted as a land surveyor for three years and finished his career as a line locator for Mobil.
He also did a lot of volunteer work, including shuttling veterans from Liberal to the VA hospital in Amarillo, Texas for many years and volunteering for his school district.
He also enjoyed camping, fishing and cheering on the local college basketball teams.
He later mastered the art of putting puzzles together and helped maintain the courtyard garden at his retirement home.
Survivors also include daughters, Mechele Thompson and husband, Rusty, Garden City, and Melisa Audrain and husband, Kalin, Fritch, Texas; siblings: Sharon Butler, Oklahoma, Robin Hawkins, Oklahoma and Roy Creamer, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Russell Thompson and wife, Tabitha, Fritch, Texas, Betheny Nolte and husband, Andrew, Dumas, Texas, Tanner Audrain, Fritch, Texas, and Taryn Audrain, Springdale, Ark.; and great-granddaughter, Ren Thompson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Rose Ann Lof, Charlene Pennington, Sheila Kneller, Shirley Mitchell, Janice Dyke, and Jo Wise; and brother, Charles “Butch” Creamer.
• Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton, with military rites conducted by Kansas Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team and Southwest Kansas Funeral Honor Guard.
