Dale Merrill Hebbert, 89, died Friday, April 18, 2025 at the Good Samaritan Society in Liberal.
He was born March 10, 1936 to Merrill and Martha (Leggett) Hebbert in Gordon, Neb.
He married Violet Joyce “Vi” DeBoer July 11, 1959, in Corona, S.D. She preceded him in death Feb. 10, 2017.
He graduated from Gordon High School in Gordon, Neb., where he first became involved in the Future Farmers of America (FFA). His passion for agriculture and leadership continued throughout his life, extending into his college years at Grace Bible Institute and the Nebraska University, where he studied for five years.
He owned his own business as a hay grinder.
He was also known for his enjoyment of coffee, and ice cream, particularly Mr. Burger’s Twist, where he often found fellowship and camaraderie among friends.
He attended the Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker, Okla. with Vi, where his faith and community were sources of strength and solace throughout his life.
Survivors include children: Timothy Hebbert and wife Suzi, Bullhead City, Ariz., Terri Saucerman and husband Roger, Stillwater, Okla., Dean Hebbert and wife, LeAnn, Liberal, and Delton Hebbert and wife Rachel, Stillwater, Okla.; nine grandchildren: Erin Watson and husband, Tyler, Ezekiel Hebbert and wife, Maegan, TimiLynn Hebbert and husband, TJ Keiser, Ryan Saucerman, Chelsea Saucerman Martin and husband, Sam, Abbey Eckberg and husband, Tyler, Savanna Hebbert, Bailey Vile and husband, Alex, and Hayden Hebbert; and 12 great-grandchildren: Taryn Watson, Tayla Watson, Taxon Watson, Rachel Green-Hebbert, Loreli Keiser, Wayne Keiser, Everly Hebbert, Riley Hebbert, Nathan and Hadley Saucerman, and Hudson and Harper Martin.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Matthew Wade Saucerman.
• Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.
