Randy Dale Schmitzer, 72, died Sunday, July 27, 2025, in Hendersonville, Tenn.
He was born June 10, 1953 to Fred and Carol (Clark) Schmitzer in Liberal.
He married Deborah J. Davidson Sept. 30, 1991 in Grand Junction, Colo. She preceded him in death.
He graduated from Liberal High School and for 37 years, he devoted himself to the role of Refrigeration Technician at Kroger, ensuring everything was running smoothly for his customers and co-workers.
He was a member of Believer’s Ministry Church.
Survivors include son, Thomas Schmitzer and wife, Ashley, Nashville, Tenn.; stepson, Julian Holt and wife, Shannon, Kingsport, Tenn.; daughter, Heather McMillin and husband, Justin, Springfield, Mo.; stepdaughter, Angela Whitley and husband, Brian, Kingsport, Tenn.; brother, Mark Schmitzer; 10 grandchildren: Cole Parker, Abigail McMillin, Daniel Chavez, Claire Schmitzer, Sarah Schmitzer, Nate Whitley, AnnaKate Whitley, Aspen Holt, Ashland Holt, Cooper Holt, and Silas Holt; and great-granddaughter, Adelyn Holt.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah J. Schmitzer; brother, Rodney Schmitzer; and sister, Jennifer Squire.
• Friends may call from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, 2025 at Hornung Family Funeral Home at 1212 W. 2nd Street in Liberal.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2025 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor David Harris presiding.
Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery in Liberal.
