PLAINS – Wanda Jean Fox, 96, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2025 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
She was born Jan. 11, 1929 to Joseph and Gladys (Pierson) Smid.
She married Guy Vincent Fox Nov. 1, 1947. He preceded her in death Jan. 8, 1995.
She was a member of the Plains Methodist Church and the Baker Art Center. She enjoyed painting, sewing, quilting, pottery, making dolls, baking and decorating wedding cakes, and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include son, Ron, Plains; brother, Jim Smid, Portales, N.M.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Gerald, Jack, and Joe Smid; and sisters, Arlene Wright and Merle Wilkerson.
• Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2025 at the Plains Cemetery in Plains.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025 at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary in Meade, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m.
