JOHNSON – Velma L. (Stokes) Klassen, 83, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025.
born July 7, 1942, in Pueblo, CO to Harold and Leona (Curlis) Stokes. She had two brothers, Raymond Stokes and Vernon Stokes.
She graduated from Syracuse High School.
She married H.C. (Herb) Klassen in 1960. He preceded her in death.
She loved watching her family grow through all parts of their lives and coming to know and accept the Lord as their Savior.
She enjoyed watching her children as they went to school, was involved in 4-H, church camp, youth group and their other activities. Weddings, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her great joy.
Survivors include daughter, Kitty (Jimmy) Banning; grandsons, Jerrad (Alyssa) Banning- (Aspen, Haven, and Sierra), and Kraig (Tressa) Klassen (Jackston); granddaughters: Katarina (David) Phillips (Kaitlin, Moses, and Callie), Jessica (Austin) Earle (Exum, Ellison, and Eilis), and Kandra (Luke) Schweizer (Avah, Laura, Isaiah, and Jake).
She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Mike Klassen; her parents-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A.W. Klassen; twin grandsons; great-grandsons, Keagen Ty Phillips and Amos Ezekiel Schweizer; and great-granddaughters, Ezra Rose Earle and Mesa Sage Klassen.
• Funeral services took place Friday, Oct. 17, 2025 with Pastor James Berry presiding.
Burial took place at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson.
