ROLLA – Rachael Ann Stewart, 78, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2025 at her home in Rolla.
She was born Aug. 8, 1947 to Wayne and Ione (Morgan) Lewis.
She graduated from Rolla High School in May 1965.
She married Robert “Bob” Clinton Stewart Oct. 26, 1968. He preceded her in death.
She was the first female mayor in Rolla and had served as the site manager at Rolla Senior Center.
She had a beautiful alto singing voice and sang at many functions including family gatherings, church and funerals.
She was a member of the Rolla Methodist Church.
She enjoyed working puzzles.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Glenda Lewis, Sondra Lewis, Patty Lewis, Juanita Lewis and Joyce Burris; brother-in-law, Billy Stewart; and many other friends and family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: Katherine, Donald, Elvin, Keith, Kenneth, Karen, Jack, Jerry, Larry and Susie.
• Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025 at Rolla Methodist Church in Rolla, with Cory Williams presiding.
Burial will follow at the Richfield Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2025 at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
