ULYSSES – Denise L. Beard, 74, died Friday, June 7, 2024 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal.
She was born Sept. 17, 1949 to Clyde and Mollie (Schilling) Beard.
She graduated from Ulysses High School. She then furthered her education at Kansas State University and obtained a master’s degree in education. She was a member of the teacher sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma, for many years.
After graduation, she taught in alternative schools, dedicating her career to helping students obtain an education despite their struggles and choices for several years in Kansas City, Mo.
After retirement, she continued to serve members of her community with an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor.
Survivors include her niece, Annette Brown; great-niece, Victoria Brown and husband, Matthew Brown, Colorado Springs, Colo.; her cat, Lucy; and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Gardell.
• She will be laid to rest with her parents and brother at the Stafford Cemetery in Stafford.
