Pauline J. Murray, 92, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2024 at Liberal Good Samaritan Society in Liberal.

She was born June 26, 1932 to William and Mary Jane (Kent) Heston.

She married James Alfred Murray Dec. 26, 1949. He preceded her in death June 27, 2010.

She graduated from Hugoton High School in 1950.

She served as the head cook at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home for 22 years.

She loved to play to the piano and organ for various events and occasions throughout the Hugoton community. 

She found joy in crocheting, earning her the affectionate nickname of "the scratcher lady."

She enjoyed attending Hugoton High School basketball and football games. 

She loved going on her Saturday shopping trips with her daughters and grandson. 

Survivors include daughters, Paula Cowser, and Patricia Zellner and husband, Louis Jr.; daughter-in-law, Joy Lewis and husband, Russel; four grandchildren: Candy Boyster and husband. James, Trea Zellner, Eriel Lewis and Keshia Sena; great-grandchildren, Christopher Boyster and Danielle Boyster; and many other relatives and friends. 

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Wayne Murray; brother, William Heston Jr.; sister, Gerldine Grantham; niece, Jackie Grantham; and son-in-law, Edward Cowser.

• Graveside services took place Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2024 at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.
