How do you answer the question “Who are you?”

Do you tell them your occupation? Maybe share your favorite hobbies? Talk about your family?

Our world seems to struggle with this question more and more. The search for “my truth” is a trap that people are told will help them feel fulfilled. You just have to discover your personal “truth” and then you will be able to live that out and everything else will fall into place and make sense.

Unfortunately, self truth and self understanding and self acceptance do not always flow from one another. I think this is because when you are on a journey to discover your own personal brand of “truth” it is easy to be swayed by any and every new thought that comes your way.  This is without even going into the challenge of “what if your ‘truth’ and my ‘truth’ don't align?” Whose “truth” gets to prevail?

The amazing thing I have to tell you today is this… “There is an absolute truth and the giver of that truth made you!”

13 For it was you who created my inward parts;

you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14I will praise you

because I have been remarkably and wondrously made.

Your works are wondrous,

and I know this very well.  ~ Psalm 139:13-14

The God of Universe created you and knows you intimately. He knows your quirks. He knows what makes you happy and what makes you sad. He knows the struggles you have and He knows the help you need. His Word, the Bible, shows His intention for the world and for our lives. I truly believe that we could eliminate much of the angst and anxiety in our world today if we would trust our Creator and His plan for us, His Truth, rather than trying to find our own.

I haven’t fully gotten my answer switched in my mind yet, but I’m working on it. When people ask me who I am, I want to answer that I am fearfully and wonderfully made by the Creator of the universe. Everything else about me should flow after that.
