MEADE – Artesian Valley Health System (AVHS) is excited to announce the addition of orthopedic surgeon Dr. Firas Kawtharani, M.D., to its surgical staff.

AVHS has established a partnership with Southwest Medical Center (SWMC) in Liberal to bring Dr. Kawtharani to Meade, where he will provide orthopedic surgical services. He brings with him a wealth of experience and a steadfast commitment to patient care.

Dr. Kawtharani obtained his medical degree from the American University of Beirut and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the American University of Beirut Medical Center.

Following this, he pursued specialized training in sports medicine at the Cincinnati Medicine and Orthopedic Center. Further, he broadened his expertise through a fellowship in Orthopedic trauma surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Kawtharani is currently providing his services at the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Care Center and Wound Care Center at SWMC.

Once a month, he will travel to Meade to consult patients and perform orthopedic surgery. Dr. Kawtharani treats various orthopedic conditions for adults and pediatrics, offering surgical interventions such as arthroscopic procedures and total joint arthroplasty of the knee, shoulder, and ankle, fracture care, foot, ankle, hand, and wrist procedures, and much more.
