The USD 480 school board will be asked to approve multiple projects at its next meeting Monday evening beginning at 6:30.  Monday’s meeting will be in Room C107 of the Liberal High School East Campus.

Before the regular meeting items, there will be a public hearing for exceeding the Revenue Neutral Rate, followed later on by some administrator reports, including from Director of Operations Chad Mease.

“With the LHS East Campus roof and soffit repairs project, the roof repairs are complete, and we are revamping the original plan to repair soffit due to additional damage found while roof was removed,” the agenda information noted. “With the LHS parking lot replacement project, the concrete has been poured and crews are finishing joint sealing, landscaping, etc. There are three change orders totaling $8,261.80, with Change Orders 2 and 3 covering additional curb replacements and Change Order 4 covering the installation of pipe bollards and railing to protect curb transition. With the field lighting project, Redskin Field is complete, and the LHS East Campus field is being rescheduled, though the material is on site. At Bright Start Early Learning Center, the exterior curtain walls material is scheduled to be delivered Sept. 9, with installation to start September 10.”

Up first under new business will be discussion of an audiology contract with Southwest Kansas Area Cooperative (SKACD).

“SKACD would like to contract with USD 480 in order to utilize our audiology personnel to serve student needs within their cooperative,” the agenda information noted. “This agreement represents that partnership. The agreement is for four days at a rate of $340 a day. This is no cost to the district, and High Plains Educational Cooperative will agree to pay USD 480 for services. This contract was reviewed by legal. Staff from SKACD will travel to USD 480 for these services. Staff is recommending the board approve the agreement for sharing of USD 480 Audiology personnel with SKACD.”

The board will also be asked to approve a quote from Bullseye LLC in the amount of $16,000 for a walkthrough support package, and the board will remain focused on technology with requests for the renewal of Aruba for wireless controllers and access points and WMWare support for VM (virtual machines) servers.

The replacement of doors and locks will also be on the agenda for the board seeking approval.

“USD 480 solicited a quote to provide Salto locking hardware to be installed with the replacement interior doors at LHS in the gym, auditorium and band hallway. Pricing is provided under Kansas State bid contract, and staff is recommending the board approve the quote from Convergint Technologies in the amount of $24,213.72,” the agenda information noted. “USD 480 solicited bids to furnish and install 20 doors/door pairs at LHS, in the big gym, auditorium and auditorium hallways. This project will be partially funded with Safe and Secure Schools Grant funds ($66,868), and this is a matching grant. Staff is recommending the board approve the bid from Southwest Glass in the amount of $283,625.”

Continued work on renovations to the LHS library will also be seeking board approval.

“During the course of demolition at LHS, the following issues were found that needed resolved: interior wall framing adjustments; replace two existing doors to match new and change door swings; remove and replace existing flooring in adjacent room, original plan was to remove enough to install plumbing and replace to match, however unable to match existing; and salvage brick to fill in hallway opening in lieu of new, unable to match existing. Staff is recommending the board approve the LHS Library Renovation Change Order 1 in the amount of $24,300.65.”

To conclude the meeting’s new business, the board will be asked to approve a payment application in the amount of $298,493.85 for the LHS Auditorium rain screen project and approve the payment of two invoices from Earles Engineering totaling $41,967 for the LHS parking lot project.
