L&T staff report
The Wild West KS and OK Area Operation Christmas Child team will host a project leader workshop from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at New Beginnings Church at 2021 N. Western Ave. in Liberal.
Everyone is invited to join the team for a time of equipping and fellowship as they prepare for the shoebox harvest ahead. Anabel Rosario Fermin will share her powerful testimony of how God used an OCC shoebox in her life.
Rosario Fermin grew up in a Christ-centered pastor’s family in the Dominican Republic. Though her family never had material abundance, she was taught God was faithful.
When she was around 8 to 10 years old, Rosario Fermin received an OCC shoebox gift. Inside, she found stuffed animals, school supplies and other needed items. The shoebox showed her God is faithful even when it does not feel that way.
Ten years after she received her shoebox gift, Rosario Fermin lost her father, mother and older sister in a tragic accident, but even amidst her grief, she felt the Lord reminding her again He was still faithful.
To hear more about God’s faithfulness in her life, join the area OCC team for a special time of Rosario Fermin sharing her testimony. To RSVP, e-mail
Is this to also help prepare n distribute the boxes??
Yes! I work for hours each year in our Church basement..counting and reboxing all the toys and gifts. High School students fill the boxes and they are taken to distribution centers to send to Franklin Graham's Operation Christmas Child headquarters where they are shipped to the intended destination for that year. It's very tiring work for a 78-year-old, but very fulfilling work!
