The USD 480 school board will look to have an easy meeting Monday evening starting at 6:30. Monday’s meeting will be in Room C107 of the Liberal High School East Campus.
The meeting’s new business will be preceded by the administrator reports, including some updates from Director of Operations Chad Mease.
“With the LHS library renovation project, there is a change order in the amount of $14,697.45 that includes additional data runs, casework changes to include for under work counters, window frames, and additional electrical built into workstation countertops,” the agenda information noted. “With the wrestling locker room project, the plan is to utilize the adjacent classroom and relocate class to E Campus classroom by relocating two offices to new office space to be located in LHS East Campus Commons area. The plan also includes Using existing lockers that we have currently in storage, the purchase of additional benches. New office space will require one wall to be built, and LHS students to help with project, with some materials being donated.”
Up first in new business will be discussion of a new sign for LHS.
“USD 480 solicited bids to furnish and install a new sign on the East exterior wall of the Maskus Auditorium at LHS in conjunction with the rain screen project,” the agenda information noted. “One bid was received from Luminous Neon out of Dodge City in the amount of $19,526.48. Staff is recommending the board approve the bid from Luminous Neon in the amount of $19,526.48.”
Up next in new business, the board will be asked to approve the payment application to Hellas in the amount of $67,599 for the LHS East Campus field conversion and the payment of Pay Application No. 5 from French Construction in the amount of $77,479.86, which is the balance to finish the project after payment application #5 is $87,250.67 in retainage, according to the agenda information.
To conclude the meeting’s new business, the board will be discussing the use of YouScience throughout the district.
“YouScience is the student aptitudes, skills, and career exploration tool we have been using since 2020 in grades 6-12,” the agenda information noted. “YouScience meets the career exploration and planning component of the Individual Plan of Study required by the Kansas State Board of Education. It includes Interest inventory surveys where students go through a series of brain games. Staff is recommending the board approve the two-year quote in the amount of 23,500.”
